About Me
I am a rising Junior at the University of South Carolina from Bethesda, Maryland. I am majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in Biology on the pre medical track.
During the past few years at USC, I have become involved in serveral different aspects of campus life, including my sorority. Being involved in my sorority have allowed me to build friendships, become part of a close community and develop my communication and teamwork skills. This experience has helped me become more comfortable stepping outside of my comfort zone and meeting new people.
Being a capstone scholar has also played an important role in my experience at USC. This program has allowed me to create new connections and support systems. One experience that stands out to me was attending Hot Cookie Friday where I had the opportunity to meet other studdents and become more conncted to the Capstone community.
Capstone has also provided me with resources that have supported me academically and helped me think about my future. I have taken advantage of opportunities to receive help with my classes, learn about different possibilities for my future, and connect with people who have helped me navigate my college experience.
Looking ahead
Looking back to when I first started my Capstone Scholars experience at USC, I was someone who liked to stay in my confort zone and was scared to get involved. Coming to college, I was the type of person who would only do what was necessary to get by. After experiencing these past two years of college and Capstone, I have learned that it is important to go above and beyond because putting yourself out there can create opportunities that you would not get otherwise. Being in Capstone has given me the opportunity to stand out and become more involved i n my community. I have also learned that I am capable of more than I initially thought when I am willing to step outside of my comfort zone. I'm no longer scared to reach out and find opportunities that will help me grow and prepare for my future career. I have become more confident in meeting new people, building relationships, and asking for help when I need it.
Looking forward, I have both personal and professional goals that I want to accomplish during my next two years at USC. Personally, I hope to continue to create more meaninful connections with my peers and becoming more involved in my community. I also want to continue challenging myself to try new things and take advantage of opportunities outside of my comfort zone. Academically, I want to continue succeeding in my eduction by maintaining strong grades and challenging myself in my Neuroscience and Biology courses. Professionally, I hope to expand my network and gain more internship, research, and career-related experiences that will help me better understand the medical field and prepare me for my future career.
